The Minnesota Objectivist Association is a group of individuals dedicated to understanding and advancing Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism. Groups meet regularly to study Objectivism, plan and discuss local and national activism, and socialize. See our calendar for events. We are supporters of the Ayn Rand Institute.

Are you wondering where to begin learning more about Ayn
Rand and her ideas and the philosophy of Objectivism? The best place to start
is to read Ayn Rand's most famous novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. You can also read
some non-fiction like The Virtue of Selfishness and Capitalism: The
Unknown Ideal. These are a collection of essays that address issues of ethics,
economics, politics and more.
Another way to learn and understand these ideas is to join some of the groups offered by MOA like an Atlas Shrugged Reading Group, a monthly discussion group or an Objectivism study group. More information about these groups can be found below. Lectures and Events
Discussion and Study Groups MOA’s Discussion and Study Groups meet to watch or listen to short, recorded lectures or speeches on philosophical ideas or current events and then discusses these. All that’s required for joining this group is to have a curiosity about ideas and the desire to discuss them in a friendly forum. We also host book discussion groups like the Atlas Shrugged Reading Groups. Find out more about those below.
A formal study group is intended to be a longer, in depth study of Objectivism and related topics. Participants in this group range from those who have, at the minimum, read Atlas Shrugged or another of Ayn Rand’s works of fiction to those who have read a much broader range of Ayn Rand’s work, including non-fiction. This group would meet on a regular basis as agreed to by the group and moderator(s).

The Atlas Shrugged Reading Group is your chance to read an exciting mystery and delve deeper into the characters, events, and ideas of the novel and its significance today. Each two-hour session covers about sixty pages of the novel and discussion is guided by prepared questions from “Explore Atlas Shrugged” created by Diana Hsieh.
